In a small, subterranean cave, Isaac comes face-to-face with the vengeful Patience (Mary Holland). Abandoned for 130 years, she has gone mad with loneliness, developing a disturbing habit of shouting her own name. Using his silver tongue, Isaac manages to pretend they are friends, but when he expresses loneliness for his companions, Patience obliges by pulling into the cave as well.

Thorfin (Devan Chandler Long), the Viking ghost, has become the emotional core of the series. After dealing with the "sucking off" (ghost heaven) of Flower, Thor has been uncharacteristically sensitive. might show him coping with loss while trying to protect the new unborn baby, whom he might see as a "tiny shield-maiden."
